A proper understanding of Islam in general and the Prophet’s biography and life or Sirah in specific requires a study of the al-Shamail, an authenticated narration and study beyond the lenses of our own socially conditioned speculations and presuppositions. Knowing the Shamail will allow us to imitate the Prophetic conduct, help us recognise the manifestation of his characteristics and impact upon others, and the text and discussions in this workshop aims to leave an indelible spiritual impact in our lives.Allah says in the Holy Qur’an “And indeed you (Muhammad) possess an exemplary character” (Qur’an 68:4).
This 2-day workshop is an intensive study of the most detailed and exquisite qualities of Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. Based upon selections from the al-Shamail al-Muhammadiya compiled by al-Imam al-Tirmidhi in the 9th century, the workshop covers from the beauty of the Prophet’s outer appearance to the more subtle beauty of his noble character, conduct and manners.
