Shaykh Dr. Tarek Elgawhary is a scholar of Islam and comparative religions having studied at both Princeton University and al-Azhar Seminary. Throughout his career, he has taught Courses in Legal Theory (Usul Al Fiqh) and Islamic Law (Fiqh). He is the creator of the Making Sense of Islam platform where he discusses issues related to Islam and mindfulness. Dr. Tarek Elgawhary currently serves as the resident scholar at the Islamic Community Center of Potomac (ICCP).

He is also an entrepreneur, teacher, and philanthropist. He is also the CEO and co-founder of the Coexist Corp., a business enterprise stemming from the Coexist Foundation. Currently, Shaykh Tarek spends his time running his business, teaching, and lecturing, and giving back through the various charities he is involved with.
